The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 I am a trustworthy Messengers. 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
