Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

May both the hands of Abu Lahab be destroyed – and they are destroyed! 1 His wealth will not suffice him, neither what he has gained; 2 Anon he shall roast into Fire having flame. 3 And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), or use to slander him). 4 Will have a strap of fibre rope around her neck. 5

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
