Hast thou not seen those who wrangle concerning the revelations of Allah, how they are turned away? - 69 Those who belie the Book and that message wherewith We sent Our apostles, presently they shall come to know. 70 When the fetters and chains are round their necks they shall be dragged 71 Through boiling water, and then burnt in the Fire. 72 And then they will be asked: "Where now are those [powers] to which you were wont to ascribe divinity 73 side by side with God?" They will answer: "They have forsaken us - or, rather, what we were wont to invoke aforetime did not exist at all!" And they will be told:] "It is thus that God lets the deniers of the truth go astray: 74 this is an outcome of your having arrogantly exulted on earth without any [concern for what is] right, and of your having been so full of self-conceit! 75 “Enter the gates of hell, to remain in it forever”; so what a wretched destination for the haughty! 76 Wherefore persevere thou; verily the promise of Allah is true; then whether We let thee see a part of that wherewith We have promised them, or whether We cause thee to die, unto Us they all will be caused to return. 77 We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods. 78
