In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
