The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
