The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
