The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But save him who fears 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
