The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
