۞ Those who have no desire to meet Us have said, "Would that the angels had been sent to us or that we could see our Lord." They are really filled with pride and have committed the greatest and worst kind of rebellion and hostility. 21 On the day when they behold the angels, on that day there will be no good tidings for the guilty; and they will cry: A forbidding ban! 22 We shall advance upon what work they have done, and make it a scattered dust. 23 Those who have earned the Garden on that day will be better in their home and happier in their place of noonday rest; 24 And on the Day whereon the heaven shall be rent asunder from the clouds and the angels shall be sent down with a great descending. 25 That Day, the dominion as of right and truth, shall be (wholly) for (Allah) Most Merciful: it will be a Day of dire difficulty for the misbelievers. 26 and a Day on which the evildoer will bite his hands [in despair,] exclaiming: "Oh, would that I had followed the path shown to me by the apostle! 27 Woe alas, ah would I had not taken so-and-so as friend! 28 “He indeed led me astray from the advice that had come to me”; and Satan deserts man, leaving him unaided. 29 And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned." 30 For so it is that against every prophet We have set up enemies from among those who are lost in sin: yet none can guide and give succour as thy Sustainer does! 31 The unbelievers say, 'Why has the Koran not been sent down upon him all at once?' Even so, that We may strengthen thy heart thereby, and We have chanted it very distinctly. 32 Every time they raise an objection, We will bring you the truth and the best of explanations. 33 (As for) those who shall be gathered upon their faces to hell, they are in a worse plight and straying farther away from the path. 34
