The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
