Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a high garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
