Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
