Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning for people -- 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
