In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 excusing or warning, 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 The living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Go on towards the threefold shadow 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
