The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
