He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
