The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
