The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The piercing star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Issuing from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up with verdure, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is no merriment. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
