And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
