The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
