The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And no trifle. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
