Al-Hijjr 4 of 6
Verily the God-fearing shall be amidst gardens and springs. 45 [Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]." 46 And We shall purge their breasts of all traces of rancour; and they shall be seated on couches facing one another as brothers. 47 Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence. 48 ۞ [O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful. 49 And verily My torment! that is the torment afflictive 50 Inform them about the matter of Abraham's guests. 51 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' but he replied: 'We are afraid of you' 52 They said, 'Be not afraid; behold, we give thee good tidings of a cunning boy.' 53 He said, 'What, do you give me good tidings, though old age has smitten me? Of what do you 54 They answered: "We have given thee the glad tiding of something that is bound to come true. So be not of those who abandon hope!" 55 He said, “Who is it that despairs from the mercy of his Lord, except those who are astray?” 56 He said, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 57 They answered: "We are sent to people lost in sin [who are to be destroyed,] 58 Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all 59 except his wife who is doomed to be left behind." 60

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
