The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 in an exposed parchment 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
