The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
