Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
