Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 excusing or warning, 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 Then the stars will lose their light. 8 And when the heaven is rent asunder, 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 proceed towards the three-pronged shadow, 30 "Which neither gives shade, nor saves from the flame." 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
