The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
