The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
