We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
