The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
