He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
