۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 Then, are we not to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
