Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house: 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
