Samood rejected the warning. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 40
