Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is split open, 1 when the planets are scattered, 2 And when the seas are erupted 3 And when the graves are ransacked, 4 A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back. 5 O man! What has deceived you about your generous Lord 6 Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee? 7 In whatever form He willed has He assembled you. 8 Not at all – but rather you deny the establishment of Justice. 9 Yet over you there are watchers, 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 who know whatever you do. 12 Verily the pious shall be in Delight. 13 And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell), 14 which they shall enter on the Day of Judgement, 15 to burn therein. 16 And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 17 Again, what do you know what the Day of Recompense is? 18 It will be a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to any other human being, God [alone] will hold command on that Day. 19
