The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
