The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
118 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa') before Prostration (Al-Sajdah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Successful indeed are the believers, 1 those who are humble in their prayer; 2 and who turn away from all that is frivolous, 3 And who are givers of poor-rate, 4 And who guard their modesty - 5 Save from their wives or the (slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy, 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; 7 And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive 8 And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- 9 and who are steadfast in their prayer. 10 Who will inherit Paradise, and live in it for ever. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a safe place, 13 then We developed that drop into a clinging form, and We developed that form into a lump of flesh, and We developed that lump into bones, and clothed the bones with flesh. Then We brought him into being as a new creation, glory be to God, the best of creators, 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 and then, behold! you shall be raised from the dead on Resurrection Day. 16 And indeed We have created above you seven heavens (one over the other), and We are never unaware of the creation. 17 And We sent down water from the sky in proper measure, then stored it in the earth; and indeed We are Able to take it away! 18 With it, We produced for you gardens of palms and vines, yielding abundant fruit for you to eat. 19 and a tree issuing from the Mount of Sinai that bears oil and seasoning for all to eat. 20 You have a lesson in livestock. We provide you with drink from what is in their bellies, and you have many other benefits from them; some of them you eat, 21 and upon them, and on the ships, you are borne. 22
