The Thamud belied the sent ones 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
