(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 while you make merry? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
