The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
