Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
