The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
