The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 Pollution shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he thought; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
