The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
