He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
