Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
