Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
