Al-Taareq

The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
