Al-Takaathur
Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)
8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you 1 Until ye visit the graves. 2 But you will soon come to know. 3 Indeed you will come to know soon. 4 Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things) 5 You should most certainly have seen the hell; 6 Again, you shall surely see it with the eye of certainty 7 Then on that day you will surely be asked about the verity of pleasures. 8
