۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 What, do we then not die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
